An engine contains hundreds of metal parts that are spinning or sliding against other metal parts. All of this metal turning and rubbing together causes friction, and creates heat. Without a lubricant such as part specific engine oil, an engine would basically weld itself together from the immense heat that can result from the constant metal on metal contact. Keeping your vehicle topped up with the appropriate oil is one of the most important things you can do to prevent expensive auto repair bills down the road.

With time and mileage, engine oil breaks down and loses its effectiveness to provide lubrication and dissipate heat. The inside of an engine is a very hot and violent place to be. At the microscopic level, molecules of oil are breaking down and become less effective. Meanwhile, synthetic oil is created using a base stock of material that was created molecule by molecule. The molecules found in synthetic oil are all a uniform size and shape. This makes them more durable, meaning they offer more protection for a longer period of time. Synthetic oil has also been shown to perform 47% better than conventional oil.
